What is RV insurance?

RV insurance is similar to car insurance, with a few aspects of homeowner insurance as well (for vehicles that double as a residence for some weeks of the year). Policies can include accidents, pet injuries, roadside assistance, and more.

Is it insured all the time, or just during use?

RVs that are for personal, recreational use can be insured for up to 250 days per year. This gives you plenty of time to travel south and enjoy some warmer winter weather, or take an extended summer vacation.

What should I keep an eye out for?

Liability Coverage

This coverage provides you with bodily injury and property damage coverage, medical payments, uninsured coverage and more. Coverage varies by state.

Vacation Liability

This coverage is for when you stop driving and start using your recreational vehicle as a temporary residence (some coverages include out-of-country damage).

Personal Effect

When physical damage coverage is selected, coverage provides replacement cost for damage or loss to items normally used with your RV.

Roadside Assistance

This has you covered 24/7 in the event of a breakdown or accident. Some will even allow you to upgrade the coverage to include lodging, transportation and meal coverage if needed.

Extra Add-ons

Some coverage types can also include accident forgiveness, pet coverage, and diminishing deductibles. Talk with your agent to learn more about these.

Discounts

Talk with your agent to see if you would qualify for discounts such as safe driver, original owner, or bundle discounts if your RV is one of many things you insure with the company.
